GPResult showed that the obvious GPO setting is not being applied here: System \ Power Managment \ Sleep Settings \ Require a password when a computer wakes (plugged in) I found others reporting the same issue, but without reporting a useful fix. Thanks for the suggestion Technology but setting aside that sleep isn't involved here, I checked this setting but found it set to "When PC wakes from sleep" and greyed out, with a message at the top that "Some of these settings are hidden or managed by your organization. Then rightclick and hit properties and add shortcut keys to make it key commanded or just double click shortcut to turn off screen.Īnyways I had the same issue and wanted screen to be black but not asleep and not needing to sign in again I have a system where i have a shortcut that does to turn off my laptop screen (can set shortcut to any key command its just right clicking desktop, new, shortcut, then enter the following.Ĭ:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -Command "(Add-Type 'public static extern int SendMessage(int hWnd,int hMsg,int wParam, int lParam) ' -Name a -Pas)::SendMessage(-1,0x0112,0xF170,2)" Semi related, how i made the screen turn off with a shortcut. Setting Value Data to 2000000000 will give you over 60 years before it locks.Īpparently deleting DelayLockInterval will do the same as making it never lock, however cannot confirm and will say that for security making it lock after a week/month turned off would not create further hassle, and am not too concerned about setting it to 2 billion. Setting Value Data to 86400 will make the screen have to be off for 24 hours before it re-locks. Setting Value Data to 0 will make it need to login every time. This just says you are counting in 10s rather than 16s.Įnter into the Value Data box to how many seconds you want screen to be off for before it will make you log in. Choose new dword, title it DelayLockIntervalĭouble click DelayLockInterval and select "decimal" rather than "hexadecimal". If not there, right click and select new. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop Open registry editor (win+r then regedit or search for it with cortana) Has anyone found a way to accomplish this? But we want the screen to blank after a relatively short time of inactivity. Presumably we could disable screen blanking and there would be no password prompt.
